Yesterday was my last day at work for three months, which means that today is the first day of my Churchill Fellowship. But really the journey started almost a year ago, in February 2014, when I applied. Or even earlier than that, when I first imagined that this might be something I would do.
I feel as if many of you have come with me on the journey to this point – the agonising wait, as I passed each stage of the selection process, and then to discover in July last year that I was successful. It was one of the big moments in my life.
This blog will describe the journey over the next three months. We leave on Easter Monday, to stay in New York City for three weeks. There will be one side trip to Washington (homage to The West Wing), and a trip to visit the nurses working in Lancaster county. We then go to Toronto for a week, and then the UK for a month, all the while visiting academics, clinicians, and administrators involved in the Nurse Family Partnership.
The last month of the trip is for a private adventure in Europe. Did I say that my travelling companion is my 15-year old daughter Verity? She will be the official photographer for the journey.
Enjoy ladies. I hope you have enough power adapters!!!!
Take care and laugh lots.

I have just made my blog and photos from my “Schoolies vacation” or so it was called “Summer Snowflakes” into a 134 page photo book…looks sensational and well worth the effort!!! It is a great reference book even now as we discuss things as the blog was written daily.
